When's Paul's Supercharged Tacoma came to us it had a few bumps and bruises. Take a look at the front clamshell, stage right. While blasting down the side of Mt Diablo, the Toyota's front differential ejected part of a spider gear through the case like a torpedo through the side of a battleship. More pieces of shrapnel found their ways into the ring and pinion mesh, seizing the gears momentarily before forcibly regaining motion. This wiped out a CV axle and chewed the clamshell up like Habanero salsa on an empty stomach. We pulled the diff, cleaned it, repaired the casting, and installed brand new 5.29s front and rear to match the 35" MTRs. ARBs made their way into both axles, a Marlin crawl box and J-shift T-Case migrated under the center console, and a manual hub conversion improved the build, ensuring that if any part of the front drivetrain failed on the trail again, Paul would not have to drive while broken parts were still engaged. Finally, Tundra Big-Brakes were added to complete the build so the Tacoma could actually come to complete stops at stop signs and voila, Paul has a renewed love for his pickup!
